CA Election results 2010

CA Election Results 2010: Barbara Boxer, Democrat has succeeded her fourth term in the U.S. Senate, GOP hopes of removing the liberal image from former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Carly Fiorina by means of a sturdy challenge.

Tuesday’s election has not been easy for Barbara Boxer. Her opponent has a wave of attack ads funded by out-of-state business and conservative groups and is a multimillionaire candidate.

Boxer found herself defending Democratic challenges to turn around the under attacked economy as the campaign was among the most challenging in the 69-year-old senator’s long political career.

Boxer turned the tables and said Fiorina represented a return to past Republican policies that created the recession as Fiorina blamed Democrats for failed economic policies.

Issues varying from abortion to gun control were painted by Boxer to Fiorina as too extreme for the most California voters.

California Prop 19 Results: No thanks to a ballot proposal that would have made it the first state to authorize marijuana for recreational use and sales, said the California voters.

Proposition 19, the legalization of marijuana for adults 21 and above to take an ounce of it, grow it in private plots and smoke the drug in nonpublic places, was rejected Tuesday.

The proposed law also states that local governments will be authorized to allow commercial pot cultivation and sales.

Proponents inclined a rational experiment for reducing marijuana-related arrests and crime and the measure as a source of tax revenue.
