Jason Davis - Host/Executive Producer 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS "On The Road with Jason Davis"

"I hope 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS viewers will benefit from my work by getting to know their friends and neighbors who become the subjects of our stories," says Jason Davis.  "We provide news that is not disaster-related.  We show another side of our region with positive stories about interesting people."

On October 11, 2008, Jason was honored for his 32 years of service to the broadcasting industry in Minnesota by being inducted into the Minnesota Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame.  He has been in television broadcasting for more than forty years, beginning in 1968.

From "On The Water" To "On The Road", Davis Has Covered The World
With over 40 years experience in broadcast journalism, Jason Davis has helped establish 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS' reputation for excellence.  Jason was born in London, England, and spent his early years traveling "On The Water" as a British merchant seaman.  He settled in Australia in 1964, where he began his career in television news four years later.  Jason joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in 1976, and he has been informing and captivating viewers ever since.

Winner of multiple awards, including induction into Silver Circle
Jason has won numerous awards, including two Emmy Awards in 2006 for Magazine Program ("Family Reunions") and Documentary ("Spelling Bee"). In 2005, Jason won two Emmys for Documentary (“On the Road to Costa Rica”) and On-Camera Host. That same year, Jason won the Northwest Broadcast News Association Eric Sevareid Award for Public Service (“Hope for the Cities”).  In 2004 he won a regional Edward R. Murrow award for a documentary on the Stillwater prison, called "The Inside Story".  That same year, he won three Emmy Awards for Documentary (“Soaring on Mended Wings”), Magazine (“On the Road Composite”) and Program Host/Non-News.  In October 2000, Jason was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle for twenty-four years of contributing news reports, feature stories and documentaries to Twin Cities' television.  The Silver Circle is the highest honor awarded by the National Television Academy.  It celebrates a lifetime of excellence in the broadcast industry, honoring individual contributions both to the television community and to the community at large.  In addition to the Silver Circle Award that year, Jason took home the Emmy in two categories: Public Affairs (“On the Road to Cuba”) and News Documentary (“Searching Seoul”).  In 2007 Jason once again won an Emmy for the best On Camera Talent Program Host/Moderator.

Renaissance News Reporter Won First Emmy In 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS' History
In 1996 Jason won the first Emmy awarded in 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS' history.  To date he has won a total of seventeen Emmys for the popular "5 On The Road" stories he continues to produce for his Sunday night weekly half-hour show, which premiered in January 2004.  Ask Jason about his work and he says: "What I like most about this business is the ability to communicate with thousands, perhaps millions of people, with the creative freedom to interpret happenings or events in a way that is informative and entertaining."

Leading News Crews To More Than 35 Countries—Even The North Pole
Jason's reporting has taken him everywhere — to the North Pole with Minnesota explorer Will Steger, around the world with history-making sailor Gerry Spiess, to battlefields in Beirut, Kuwait and Iraq, and to the "out of this world" adventures of Minnesota astronaut "Pinky" Nelson.  He has led news crews to more than 35 countries around the globe.

On a Personal Note
